Her parents are Kosovo Albanians Anesa Laxha and Dukagjin Lipa. Her parents are of Bosnian origin by her mother's grandmother. It is possible to trace her family's roots back to Peja the city of Kosovo. The grandparents of Lipa were both historians. Her siblings are Rina and Gjin. Lipa was heavily influenced by music by her father who was the lead singer and guitarist of the Kosovan rock band Oda. Her father at home continued to perform music, including original compositions as well as songs from David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Sting The Police and Stereophonics. Lipa was just five years old when she started singing. In the age of nine she started learning to sing.
