The journalist spent more than a decade reporting on various sports on behalf of The Washington Post, including tennis, football and basketball. Nichols was hired by ESPN at the beginning of 2004. She worked for nearly nine years with the company, winning two Emmy Awards. She also featured on the most watched programs on ESPN such as SportsCenter and NFL Countdown. She also worked as an anchor for Monday Night Football on the network. Following her departure from the ESPN network, her subsequent stop was CNN and Turner Sports. Unguarded - Rachel Nichols - was her first self-titled show, which aired each week on CNN International. The show had over a billion viewers around the world. Nichols worked at TNT as a reporter, reporting on NBA games including playoffs, regular season and All Star shows. Nichols also covered golf, baseball and Final Four broadcasts for CBS and TBS. It was the only time in the award's 42-year-old record that a woman is included among the over 200 nominations.
